Jenny Beard

Jenny Beard is a fine artist and mural artist who is currently exploring abstraction, contemporary painting, the reverse entropy of painting, gestures and the digital, and northern/gender identity. Using digital tools to create and manipulate sketches, Jenny uses abstract imagery to explore optical space, depth and flatness. Her work is open-ended and explorative, dealing with the paradox of appropriating abstract marks for abstract paintings.

Jenny has always been a painter and she took up contemporary abstraction during her undergraduate studies at Leeds Arts University. Her business has evolved through working on canvas, and over the past few years, she has been painting murals and designing patterns for products. Examples of Jenny’s work can be viewed and bought via ‘Drool’ and ‘If Walls Could Talk’, as well as selling originals via ‘The Ode To’. She has also worked with Rad Union to create a design for one of their trolley bags. She is currently working towards a solo show, and continuing to sell her commissions.

Jenny originally heard about LCVS Enterprises through a meeting with a business in their building - she fell in love with the space and wanted to work there herself. She feels that having a designated artist studio space has allowed her to continue to work at a large scale, developing her practice.
