Christian Campomanes’ designs and hand-makes aromatherapy candles and other home scents, as well as holding workshops in his studio. On a winding path to what he does now, he has had a plethora of jobs, including working as a HR Administrator, before starting his business Golden Hour Co. Christian got into making candles when he was taking some time off for his health. He feels that what he does now much more aligns to who he is as a person, he has found the right path.
The business kickstarted after Christian had been making candles for two years at home. Once he had retained an office space, it helped Golden Hour Co. to grow, allowing him to welcome people in and to hold candle-making workshops. Having the room to make and store more products than ever before, whilst being able to separate his work from his home life, has been amazing for his business. Christian feels like he can now actually call it a business due to having a studio for it.
Golden Hour Co.’s plans for the future are to evolve the business to become more sustainable and to create projects that are more adventurous. Christian is currently exploring and researching the idea of small batch, seasonal pours that involve essential oils, appropriate for different seasons. Golden Hour Co. hopes to welcome more people to do more workshops and work with more of Christian’s favourite artists, and makers too.
He first heard about LCVS when looking for a space to work. Christian put a call out on a local Facebook group, where building manager Mairi reached out to him. His studio was the first he saw, and after the viewing, he cancelled all other viewings elsewhere. When Mairi first opened the door, he knew he had to go for it. This has been the best decision that Christian has made in the last few years. As well as his business evolving, he has met some wonderful and inspiring people, and met friends for life!
